about me

Hi! I’m Lola. I’m so glad you stopped by my blog.

I’m a twenty-something city girl and recent repatriate to the USA. I’ve just settled into my new life as an art history PhD student in Philadelphia, where I live with my fiancée. Before that, I lived a year each in London, Warsaw, and New York City.

I maintain high expectations for my morning coffee, don’t know how to drive a car, and like to have a good cry in front of art on a regular basis. I swear my undying fealty to Rachel Maddow, my alma mater Smith College, and my hometown Boston Red Sox.

True to my nature as a grad student in art history, I love to encounter art, culture, and history around the world, and to allow these encounters to inspire my daily life.

The name Little Histories was derived from the title of EH Gombrich’s A Little History of the World. I believe history is found everywhere: in old buildings; in books; in thrift stores. And I like the idea that there is more than one history to everything.

This blog is my place to record little histories, and try to fill in the stories Gombrich overlooked. In short, it’s a field guide to living with the past.

If you’d like to be in touch for whatever reason, feel free to drop me a line.
